if you could afford it would you have a maid to clean up after you
My mom would never have one, she would be going behind the maid cleaning after her. My mother is not satisfied unless she does it herself.
I would love to have a maid and a cook, and a butler and chauffeur. I really should have been born rich.
What about you would you have a maid if you could afford it?
Give your reasons why or why not

I would love to have a chef, If I could have a chef I would be in heaven. I dont like cooking much and I have no imaginantion when it comes to food. So thats all I would be happy with. I dont mind the house work as long as someone cooks for me. [Calais]
Me too! Pass the chef please. Like most moms, I spend most of my time in the kitchen cooking. And, I'm running out of really good tasting recipes. My husband used to cook all the time, now he acts like he acts like he can't even make a sandwich for himself! As far as a maid goes, I had one of those. Once I had to stay in a hotel for three weeks, and we got maid service all the time. It was nice having fresh towels daily that I didn't have to wash and dry myself. You kind of get used to it. It spoiled me. However, I was so embarrassed to have the maid see my messy ways, that I would compulsively clean the room before she came in to do her job. I'm sure she appreciated that! Cleaning is not a very easy job. And, I wasn't doing anything better at the time, so I didn't mind helping out with her cleaning job. If I had to hire someone to take the pressure off of me, it'd have to be someone that would run errands and pick up things from the store. I never seem to have time for that. [beautyqueen26]
For sure i'd have one, i'm kind of a messy person - not dirty as such but untidy, i never put things away after i use them & that sort of thing! My Mum is a bit of a clean freak, she used to tidy my house but that didn't last long (it was only because i had a newborn & couldn't move well after the C Section). My Mum's house is pretty spotless except when my sister's around but still, at 22, my Mum is still cleaning up after her! I think a maid would be perfect for me, at least then i'd know the house was clean all the time! You can keep your chauffeur though, i love driving way too much to want someone to be having all the fun for me! [Gemmygirl1]
I would love to have some body to cook for me,now cleaning is another thing there is not any one who could do it to siut me.I have a place for every hing and i have a certain way i load the dish washer and laundry i am a real nit picker. [kebpete]
We give my daughter some money to help her out each week and in response to that she comes over here and does a bit of cleaning. I am like your mother though I wait till she's gone then do it my way. For some reason she doesn't sweep behind doors or wipe the side of the toilet bowl. Little things like that. I think it is because I like things done my way lol. I would love it if even for one night a week we could have a chef come and cook a lovely meal for us. It would be a break for me and also a treat for us all. Oh I just thought I would also love an ironing lady to do all that dreaded ironing :) Ahhhh if wishes like this were within my reach life would be bliss. Instead of sitting here dreaming I suppose I had better put that next load of washing on then sweep the floors lol. Great topic by the way thankyou. [shoelover]
No, I like to clean. No one would be able to satisfy me and like your mother, I would be going behind the maid cleaning after her. I don't like to cook much at all. I would love to have a personal cook that would cook low-fat, healthy foods. Now all I need is a personal trainer and I would be all set. [saigonwarrior]
If I could afford it I would have a housekeeper come once a week or twice a week to clean and straighten up. I don't mind doing the dishes and laundry, but I don't like the tedious things that takes time. I don't like the dusting and stuff. But Kimmie and i split the house. She keeps half of the house up and I keep the other half up, so that works out really well... but still...if I lived on my own and I could afford it I would have someone come in at least once a week. I would drive myself, except for in Atlanta traffic or something.. then I would want a driver. I would do this, just because I had the money to. I think a housekeeper could do a much better job than I could. I don't get around as well as someone agile, so I would appreciate the help if I could pay for it. [charlene2350]
For sure!!! If I could afford it I would have someone clean for me. I do not mind cooking it's the cleaning I do not like. [howard96h]
Sure, why not? If I have loads of money, I will have a troop of maids. We have some people who make enough just so that half their salary goes to maid upkeeping - that's plain silly unless you need a maid for whatever reason. If I can't afford a maid *easily*, I really do my housework myself. I am not such a softie that I am daunted by housework. Having someone to help is nice but it is not a need. [lordwarwizard]
Hello, winterose, even i can afford to hire a maid,I think i will do the housework by myself,I enjoy cooking by myself,I know what I like to eat and how should cook something well. I also like to tidy up my room by myself,I do not like other people touching my personal stuff because I may not be able to find something after someone have touched it and moved it. It is also a good Exercise to do housework if your house is not too big:P [easy888]
Having a hired maid in my country is pretty common. The salary Ranges from $50 to $100/month. I used to hire different maids before. I'm not very strict with them for as long as they adhere to everything I taught them to do. I will still fix things around the house myself. Two years ago, I decided not to hire maid anymore. Although, at times, I wish that I have one but I still prefer to do everything by myself. It is also my way of teaching my girls to share with the household chores. I like them to grow up not depending on anyone to do the household chores for them. [charms88]
Yes, if i could, i would have a maid. The house work bores me. And a cook, shauffeur and steward as in the nobile english families. "Yes, sir" ,"Yes, mum" -everything sounds funny:-) [magica]
If i could afford it, i would have someone come and clean my house. A few years ago when i wasnt well, i had someone come and do some housework, but i found i was tidying up before she got here and then i would be checking afterwards that things were done. I wouldnt get a cook though because i like to cook, and know what my family wants. Best wishes to you [kayrod2]
I was born rich, I'm just on a quest to find where it was hidden. lol I would bot only have a maid, I would have ahd a nanny, butler oh yeah, a cook would be a choice, as well as a personal trainer and a chauffer. It isn't that I'm lazy, there are just better things to do with my time. Susan [susaneverson]
If I had my choice, I would love to have a maid. The biggest reason, I'm just plain tired of doing housework! I would love to come home from work and not have to clean up a mess, or do laundry. Just the thought of coming home and not having to deal with the housework gives me goosebumps! [gypsylady28]
If we had the money, I would hire a maid. Housework is quite boring and I don't always have the time to really do it right. If you give them a good salary, then you won't need to go behind them with a cloth. I used to clean houses as a child, which may be why I don't like to do it now. I would also like to have a chauffeur as I don't drive over here. [spiritwolf52]
I have known people who employed household staff. That in itself brings about its owns stresses and responsibilities. I certainly would not like live-in help. I think in North America we have gone away from this type of arrangement. Only the very rich indulge in this. What I really like is a housekeeping service. They come in in do the job, you pay, they leave and come back in a couple of days, a week, two weeks from now or whenever you can afford them. I suffered an injury last year and spent some money on housekeeping service. Things I could not do myself. I really loved it and it took a big burden away from me and helped me get better. I wish I could afford this all the time. [Lindalinda]
In India, most people from the middle class have maids who do the cleaning and cooks (though that's not as common as as a maid). I have help though I'm not exactly 'rich'. [MakeItCount]
Even if I could afford it....I would not want someone to clean my house. It's not the fact that I'm really picky when it comes to cleaning.....but I used to clean houses for others and I remember how much you see about peoples lives and it's not always things that they would want everyone to know about. I for one have never talked to anyone about some of the things I've seen.....even so it would make for some juicy gossip....but I'm not one to dragg others dirty laundry out for everyone. Now I have worked with others that love nothing more than to share all those little secrets that they have learned about the people they clean for. Most of the times it's nothing that can get anybody in trouble.....but personal things that some would rather not share with a stranger. So that's why I would not feel comfortable having someone clean for me. As for the cooking....forgett it.I can't stand someone ells messing around my kitchen.....because I am very picky when it comes to that and they would get tired of me butting in on what they do all the time. [winky73]
Yeah if i've been born rich i would like to have a maid because like isn't easy i want to live a life without doing something im tired of doing something by my self only im tired of going to wrok with my self [kurochan]
I am not so sure I would like to have a maid and all that. I sometimes think I would, because it sure would help theoretically, but I think I would be like your mother going behind and cleaning up and then complaining they didn't do their job right. So I think I would save my money and do it myself. hahaha! [mamasan34]
If I could afford it I would have someone come once a month to deep clean my house from top to bottom. I mean I want to see it sparkle clean. I can handle the rest of the days. [ecogal]
Hi there, I dont mind doing house work, dont think i would have a maid cause i like doing things my way [yamahagirl]
If I can afford I would rather have a maid to laundry and iron clothes. Coz as of now I do all the household chores and also the cooking and I'm already tired if I will do the laundry.Sometimes I hired a laundry girl coz here in my place there's a lot of laundry shop but I'm not confident in there machine laundry I used to in manual laundry. [lynboobsy11]
No Rose I wouldn't as I prefer to do it myself I have my own ways of doing things so I would not want anyone else to do it Everything is in the Place where I want it to be and how I want it to be lol I also like changing my Furniture round [gabs8513]
Absolutely, every day I'd have them in, its the only way to keep up with the cat mess! And I'd have those dogs go to a trainer! [ElicBxn]
I am like your mother I rather clean my own house even if I was rich. I would like to have a cook to cook for me if I was rich, this way when I come home from work the meals are there waiting for me. [babystar1]
Hi winterose!!! I think if i were rich or have been born in the rich family, i would hire a maid. So she can take care all the houseworks, chores in my house. And i can have more time to take care family. I can have more time to enjoy my life and relax. But i am not that much rich though. [becuttieusa]
I think your mother attitude is not unique. I think that there are a lot of people (especially old people) that is not happy when someone do something for them. I already had a maid, but right now I don't have. I don't think I need one. My house is small and must of the time is clean. [RogerTheRabbit]
I wouldnt have a maid/butler/cook because I feel alot better in myself if i do it myself! If I clean myself I beam from ear to ear as Im only 18 with my own home its not very common, but I am doing it, working as hard as I can, keeping my house clean, doing what adults do, and Ive only just made it to adulthood! I would maybe probably possibly have a chauffeur but that is because sitting behind a car steering wheel scares me. I just know if I get out on the roads I am going to hit something or someone and the gears make me think OMG! So Maybe a chauffeur but no to the rest, Its also the fact I wouldnt like someone else going through my things and putting them away in places where I myself don't know where they are when I go to get them. [fliffy555]
I am too lazy for house work but if I born rich difinitely I would hire a maids and personal assestant.Too bad for me I born poor so I guess I need to do all with my own self. My aunt have a lots of maids but her mother isn't satisfied she like to do also by her own self. She everything is clean and shine and everything is in a right place. I do hate her because everything you do is wrong everything she do is right? thats why no ones worker stay her longer because of her bad atitude. [subrecary]
YES! But I'm sure that I would also pick up after the house cleaner- Not every day but I know I would. I would love to not have to spend alot of time cleaning up- and more time playing- I'd love to spend more time outside- ande not doing laundry! Oh I'm going to win the lottery and get me a housekeeper! [KrisNY]
I would love to have a maid the only problem being ..i would have to clean the house before she came LOL cause i cant stand my house being messy with someone coming over ..and a cook..i am rather picky so as long as they fixed common food and not no high class junk i could live with that one..and i love driving to much to get a chauffeur lol..but i do agree i was born to be rich..and i WILL be rich one of these days :) just waiting for my numbers to come in [sassybratky]
There was a time when I was still working when I did have a cleaning woman in once a week. It was heaven! I can't imagine how it would be to have someone daily. Heaven X seven, I guess, or maybe that would be x five, gotta let her have some time off. Imagine having someone else to sweep up those thread snippets, bits of fabric, trims, and excess paper from patterns. Good thing hubby is very patient [and messy too], we just do a big clean up once in awhile. He cooks, and I do dishes. Works for us. [wifeofharvey]
yes i would like to have all of them coz its pretty good when i set and nothing to do :) somone cook for me and may be fed me :) and somone clean and some one drive and and and also someone to sing for me befor sleep :) [mafiaspider]
I would not mind having a maid to do the household chores. It is tiring and after all the housework, there is little energy left to do other more productive stuffs. I would prefer to concentrate on the more productive stuffs and engage a maid to help out the mundane ones. I think it is fair. She needs a job and I am offering her one. She is working for her livelihood while I mine. [whyaskq]
I'd like to have a maid for the big cleaning, like once a week or once every two weeks. Not everyday. The little cleanup, dishes and laundry i could do myself but the big whole house cleaning, i wish i could get some help, and my hubby doesn't help, so... [jewel76]
We do have a part time maid who comes over twice a week to do the mopping, window cleaning and other chores. It works well. No complains. Well Hon, It might just turn your future into a better one with your wishes coming true. God bless you with your dreams and wishes. [mdarma]
Nope, I would do it myself. I wouldn't pay anyone even if I was very rich, I don't see the point because It's important to know how to manage doing it and sometimes those who have a maid find themselves needing to learn pretty quick.. (to get back into it) ~Joey [joey_matthews]
No I wouldn't have a maid not even if I could afford one. I don't think anyone can clean my house to please me. I would be like your mom I would be going behind the maid cleaning what I thought wasn't good enough. It would drive me nuts to have a maid cleaning my home. [bwrattybaby]
Oh absolutely. I would love to have a maid. I hate to clean! That is one thing that I've always wanted and could never afford, so if I could afford it, I'd have it in a minute. [brendakaya]
I have. Living in cities where paying $600-700 to just rent a room and have roomates has one advantage. You can split the fee of having a a professional cleaner come in. It was great for me as I worked long hours. I'm a SAHM now and miss those days. I feel like I have job of sorts just keeping house and having a baby. [artemis432]
If I could afford it I would definitely have a maid. I would let her know the things that I wanted her to pay particular attention to and then let her take care of it. I am not that particular about the housecleaning. In my book as long as the house is clean that is fine. Having a maid would free time up for me for things that I needed to do or just wanted to do. It would be heaven for me. [sunshinelady]
It probably sounds crazy, but I'm the same as your mother. I could never hire a maid and be satisfied. They always say, if you want something done right, do it yourself. That's how I am. A maid's work would never be good enough for me! With cooking, I would definitely hire someone. It's not that I'm not a good cook, but I think I'd much rather clean than cook. That probably sounds strange, too, but it's the truth! A butler might be nice because I get tired of answering the door and phone. I wouldn't want a chauffeur because I'm a good driver (never had a ticket), and I absolutely love driving. I guess I'm just picky. I love how you said you should've been born rich. I know just about everyone would wish for that! Unfortunately, being wealthy doesn't really happen that way. I think it'd save a lot of problems if money were easier to come by. (LOL) Very intriguing discussion! [JJ4Ever]
I appreciate your sense of humor! I should wear one of those signs that says, "Will work for food" because I would clean your house in a heartbeat for a good, hearty meal! [JJ4Ever]
Hi sister, (can I call you by your name). Here in India, almost every middle class family has a maid servant who does the dish washing, laundering and clening job. But my wife is always after her supervising . DR.B.SARAF Ph.D. [bhubaneshwar]
sure you can call me by my name, I wish I had a made, I really do. [winterose]
Winterose I would love to have a maid to clean up after me and do the dishes and sweep the floor and mop and vacumn the floor and it would just be heaven.oh yes a butler and a cook and a chauffer that would be such luxury I could really dig it. oh my yes now all I need is to win the lottery and I could afford it.lol [Hatley]
yeah and think about winning that lottery and employing people, giving them a job, a win win situation all over. [winterose]
I would love to have a maid as I do hate housework but no cook as I love to cook, a chauffeur would be nice too but I could not' afford either of them. lol. so must do my own work or not as I feel like it lol. [Hatley]
hey we can dream can't we? [winterose]
